I had been using gmail happily. I had been using the portal view with
some standard widgets. After loggin in yesterday, I no longer had the
portal view come up. In fact, I cant get to the portal at all.
Instead the google gmail page page opened. On displainng the standard
gmail webpage, my browser has become totally unstable. It flashes, it
locks, it goes gray, will not scroll, is deal slow and is totally
ineffective.
There is no problem with non-google tabs. This means, that when I
navigate away from gmail by selecting a different tab, the browser is
fine even if my Gmail tab is still up. Further, when I rever to the
"older version" older version of gmail the browser is stable.
I have done restore on all elements of IE including all add-ins. No
change in behaviour.
I have done no software changes whatsoever. I then added back the add-
ins I know I use: adobe, java etc.
This is a very strange situation. I am guessing that the newer
version of google is looking fo an add in that is not there.
Apparently I had some sort of slight difference in what I was using
and either went into an unstable gmail environment or passed a bad
parameter. In any event, the problem is closed.

FirstForty,
I am also having this problem and it started about the same time yours
did.
Very strange. I have to switch to the "Older Version" and it works
GREAT.
I also am using IE7, and when using the new version it freezes
everything
up or works so slowly that it is impossible to use. Please let me
know if
you hear of any fixes!
